Planning Christmas in July
Maybe it's because of the hot weather or just because summer is the halfway point, but people often begin thinking of Christmas in July. Usually it's commercialized, so you will be reminded of it in ads and television commercials.
In reality, July is a great time to begin planning your December festivities. So how can you get ready for the holidays in the mid-summer heat?
Celebrate in July
Families can't always get together in December, so July is the perfect time to have a reunion. The weather is more favorable for traveling, without the additional hustle and bustle the holidays bring. Consider combining your holiday with a vacation and take turns planning the destination.
Start Your Christmas Crafts
Crafts are time-consuming, so get a head start. Whether it's knitting a blanket or putting together some unique Christmas ornaments, by completing them early, you're avoiding the additional last minute stress that the holidays tend to create.
Plan Your Gift List
Ideas aren't that easy to come by when the pressure is on, so start your list now. Not everyone will appreciate the usual sweater or bath gift set for Christmas. Spring and Summer items make wonderful gifts and you can get them on sale in July.
It sounds crazy to do your holiday shopping in July, but your friends and family will enjoy their presents more if you put some thought and effort into what they really would want.
Finally, sign and address your Christmas cards early and start your newsletter. Leave the envelopes open so you can add pictures and a letter. If you're anticipating that any of your recipients will be moving, leave the address area blank and fill it in later. Don't put stamps on the envelopes until they're ready to be mailed.
