Sure, temptations are everywhere this holiday season (food!
drinks! treats!), but whatever your vice is, it’s time to plan a
new year’s resolution to kick that monkey right off of your
back. Most people believe that January 1st is the best day to
begin a new years resolution, however, there’s at least one good
reason to choose an appropriate day after that.
New Year’s Day is a holiday and many will not be successful
keeping any self-made promises for that day. Thus, the
resolution is broken before it has begun. Depending on your
schedule, you’re better off choosing a day after the first,
within the first two weeks in January.
Top New Year's Resolutions
The New Year has us reflecting on the past and looking forward
to the coming year. Everyone has something they’d like to
change, whether it’s physical or mental. Only those who
acknowledge a problem will have a chance at success. The
following is a list of the top, most popular New Year’s resolutions.
One thing’s for sure, none of them are easy to accomplish yet
it’s certainly possible with some strong determination. You have
to be willing to make sacrifices but the rewards are many.
Sometimes, when you resolve one problem, you alleviate another.
Lose Weight/Get Fit
There’s no surprise here. If you didn’t have a weight problem
before the holidays, you might now. Regardless, most of us could
resolve to eat better and exercise regularly.
Quit Drinking
Hopping on the wagon will help serious drinkers to get their
life in order, but also cut down on calories that add extra
weight to the mid-section. Beer belly no more.
Quit Smoking
Not only is smoking dangerous, it’s downright expensive. Kick
the habit and you’ll immediately save money while your health
improves.
Get Out of Debt/Save Money
Getting out of the red means giving up some finer things in life
and perhaps some vices that are costly. Giving up one may help
solve another.
Get Organized/Manage Time
Time management is crucial to being more productive. Once you
learn to focus, you’ll have more quality time to spend with
family and friends. This leads to better relationships and
ultimately, a happier life.
