Cookie Dough Recipe
Get ready to fill your cookie jar! Our cookie dough recipe is easy to make and very versatile. The ingredients are already in most kitchens and best of all, you can mix it ahead of time and chill in the fridge.
- 1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 3/4 c. granulated sugar
- 3/4 c. brown sugar - lightly packed
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
Put the butter, both sugars, salt and the baking soda in a large mixing bowl and beat with a spoon or mixer for about 3 minutes. Blend in the eggs and vanilla extract. Reduce speed and add the flour gradually.
The dough is best used when chilled, so try to mix it up ahead of time to allow for a couple hours in the refrigerator. Roll out the dough and use your favorite cookie cutters. Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes on an un-greased cookie sheet. Chill dough between batches.
Decorate your cookies with M&M's, candy, colored sugar, sprinkles, cake decorating gel, or frosting. Make Santas, snowmen, wreaths, and Christmas tree cookies!
