Make a good, old-fashioned fruit cake for your party or Christmas event this holiday season! Use a large bowl to add the following: Ingredients 1 1/2 c. whole brazil nuts 1 1/2 c. walnut halves 7 1/4 oz. whole pitted dates 2/3 c. candied orange peel 1/2 c. candied red cherries 1/2 c. candied green cherries 1/2 c. seedless raisins After you have all of the ingredients in the bowl, sift in the following dry ingredients: 3/4 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder 3/4 c. flour Lightly mix ingredients. Over this, add: 3 eggs, beaten until fluffy 1 tsp. vanilla Mix. Batter will be very stiff. Bake in a greased 9x4" loaf pan in a 300° oven for about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Slice the fruit cake when it is completely cooled. Can freeze. |
