These party activities are suggested for children and will keep
them busy during your home or school party. Visit our
Christmas
Party Activities page for many more ideas and games for planning
a holiday party.
Make Christmas Decorations
Pull out some arts and crafts materials and let the kids make
some decorations that they can take home. Take pictures of their
finished projects and add them to a scrapbook.
Play Games
Be creative and play some games associated with the holiday.
Have a Christmas trivia quiz and award prizes. A
scavenger hunt
is a great way to get the kids out and about and spread some
Christmas cheer!
Cooking & Baking
Bake and decorate Christmas cookies and candy. Have all of the
recipes out and ready to go. Be prepared. Consider mixing some
of the batter up before your guests arrive to save time. Keep
party favor bags handy so your guests can take home some treats.
Tell Stories
Children always love Christmas stories, so have them sit in a
circle, dim the lights and narrate some classic holiday stories
to set the mood. Add your own heartwarming stories of the good
things people do to help others. Ask the children to do their
own "random acts of kindness" and share the stories next year.
Visit from Santa
Rent a Santa costume and appoint a friend to play the role.
Purchase some inexpensive gifts and candy for Santa to hand out.
Be sure to take pictures. Use a Polaroid camera for instant
pictures that the kids can take home, or use a digital camera to
print off the pictures, or e-mail them to the guests at a later
date.
Watch Movies
Your party doesn't have to involve a lot of preparations. Rent
some holiday movies and let the kids watch till their hearts
desire. Provide some popcorn, cookies and hot chocolate to
satisfy their tummies. For younger kids, consider covering the
floor with a very large sheet or blanket for easy clean-up.
